Dr Emmett Hegarty has undergone a broad postgraduate training in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and Orthodontics before embarking on his specialist training in Orthodontics at Guy’s Hospital London and the William Harvey Hospital, Ashford.
Emmett is a certified and experienced user of Invisalign, as well as lingual braces and Damon braces. He has presented at national and international conferences as well publishing in international journals including the ‘Journal of Orthodontics.

Six steps to a new smile

Smile Consultation
Come in for an in-person consultation where we can answer your questions and advise you if Invisalign would be a good option for you.

Digital Scan
Using our state-of-the-art iTero scanner, we’ll take a quick, safe scan of your teeth to provide us with the information we need to create your treatment plan. No need for messy putty impressions.

Clincheck
We’ll use your digital scan to map out the proposed movement of your teeth. You will see an animation of both your expected month-to-month progress and the final results of how we expect your smile will be.

Aligner Fitting
Once we receive your first aligners from the Invisalign lab, we’ll fit them for you and make sure they are comfortable. Small clear attachments may be added to speed up your progress.

Wear Your Aligners
You will progress from one set of bespoke aligners to another, changing them either every one or two weeks. You will be able to see your teeth becoming straighter.

Your New Smile is Complete
After you finish your last set of aligners, your beautiful new smile will be complete. Retainers should be worn after your treatment is finished to keep your teeth straight and in place.
Invisalign FAQs
Aligners are made of clear, strong medical grade plastic that is virtually invisible when worn.
Aligners are clear and look similar to tooth-whitening trays. They are custom-made for a better fit to move teeth.
This is to do with the complexity of tooth movements with Express reserved mainly for one or two front teeth that need minor alignment requirements. More complex tooth movement will fall into the Lite and Comprehensive Invisalign categories. You will be advised about which one is suitable for you at your consultation.
You’ll wear each set of clear aligners day and night for anything between one to two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss.
Like brackets and arch wires are to braces, Invisalign® aligners move teeth through the appropriate placement of controlled force on the teeth. The principal difference is that Invisalign® not only controls forces, but also controls the timing of the force application. At each stage, only certain teeth are allowed to move, and these movements are determined by the orthodontic treatment plan for that particular stage. This results in an efficient force delivery system.
No, there will be no damage. However, if your teeth are crooked there may need to be some IPR (Inter Proximal Reduction). This means tiny amounts of enamel may need to be filed down to create space for teeth to be straightened.
